Jim Jordahl

Core Team, Cover Crops Working Group 

Jim Jordahl is the Director of Programs and Operations for the Iowa Agriculture Water Alliance (IAWA). He helps farmers and environmental experts implement conservation practices and innovations that have a positive impact on water quality.

Jordahl brings more than 30 years of experience working in farming operations, soil science, environmental science, and project management to IAWA, including over 6 years of experience working directly with Iowa farmers to apply conservation practices. He has worked in many aspects of nutrient management including advising wastewater treatment facilities on land application of liquid and solid residuals.

While gaining most of his expertise in the United States working for a wide range public and private entities, Jordahl also has worked on water quality projects with diverse partners in other countries, including Australia, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, France, Italy, and Canada. He leverages these experiences to coordinate water quality efforts of key partners and to plan and manage projects and proposals. He has a bachelor’s degree in Farm Operations and a master’s degree in Agronomy/Soil Management, both from Iowa State University.
