Bruce Trautman

Member, Conservation Drainage Working Group

Bruce Trautman currently works as the Acting Director at the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Trautman graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a B.S. in Biology and worked for the University of Nebraska on an animal waste/methane research project. He then moved on to working for the State of Iowa Division of Soil Conservation before his 31 years of service at the USDA- Natural Resource Conservation Service where he spent his last 18 years as an Assistant State Conservationist for Field Offices in southeast Iowa. Trautman was born and raised in Sutton, Nebraska where he helped in a locker/butchering business and small grain farm prior to marrying his wife, Kim, which led him to Iowa. Trautman and Kim have two grown daughters now living in Waukee and New Orleans. His interests include a lifelong commitment to conservation and all our natural resources, Iowa’s youth, hunting and fishing.
