Jamie Benning

Core Team, Strategy Working Group 

Jamie Benning is the Water Quality Program Manager with Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach. She develops and delivers water quality and soil conservation programs and collaborates with researchers and extension specialists to create science-based education and training opportunities.

Benning works with external partners and stakeholders to support water quality improvement efforts throughout the state. Collaboration outcomes have included the development of the Iowa Watershed Academy and RetaiN nitrate testing kit program.

Previous roles with ISU include multi-disciplinary research and extension projects focusing on water quality, watershed management, farmer-leadership, soil quality, and nutrient management. Benning obtained a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy and a master’s degree in Soil Science, both from ISU. A northeast Iowa native, Benning was raised on a grain and livestock farm near Wadena.
